CTMA 2008-2009 Highlights

Who knew?  Who knew that the past event year for the Colorado Treasury Management Association (CTMA) would be even better than the last?  The bar was set pretty high with the successes of the 2007 – 2008 events, but even loftier heights were achieved this past year.  Who knew that a monkey would steal the show?  That’s right – Survey Monkey made its debut for the CTMA this past year as a new and better evaluation tool for CTMA luncheons and events.  Each of us was greeted by the survey link when we returned to our offices after each of the informative monthly luncheons.  The electronic survey tool has allowed greater subject matter variety and better and faster result compilation.  Even better, the online surveys allowed the Education Committee to touch base with all members and get their feedback, even if they were unable to attend a particular luncheon.  Look for even more creative and helpful usage of this tool next year!

Let’s not overlook the powerful lineup of luncheon speakers and topics - from timely topics such as Business Resiliency, Hedge Accounting, and The Yield Curve, to age-old standards such as the Economic Update, ACH, and Treasury Benchmarking, we are all fortunate enough to be exposed to regular opportunities for learning and to earn CTP credits at the same time!  Let’s also not forget that we also saw the debut of post-luncheon workshops on ACH for Treasury Management Sales/Support and A Primer on Hedge Documentation and Effectiveness Testing.  These workshops were well received, so look for similar efforts in the future.

Last, but not least, we mustn’t forget the exciting new CTMA website that was unveiled during this event year, with access to event schedules and registration, speaker presentations, the member roster, job postings, industry links and resources, and much more.  Be sure to come back often for new updates and helpful information.  Keep in touch and we’ll see you in September for the beginning of a new and exciting year!

Dedicated volunteers are important to the success and long term viability of organizations like CTMA.  Volunteerism with CTMA is mutually beneficial to both its members and the association.  CTMA provides its volunteers a great opportunity to develop and or refine his/her interpersonal and leadership skills, understand the association and its functions better,   and an opportunity to network with peers in the industry which is ever more important in today’s economy.  CTMA, on the other hand, benefits from having volunteers from broader spectrum, thus bringing fresh ideas to continuously refine our objectives and processes to better serve our member community.  Last but not least, it provides CTMA a strong ground to prepare future board members with much needed leadership skills.

If you are interested to volunteer in any of the committees mentioned above, please contact mail@CTMA.org.  CTMA board of directors truly appreciates your time and effort to move this association forward in an environment of increasing industry consolidation.
